19th May @ 7:30 pm - 9:15 pm AEST

Live at The Substation – one night only – Friday 19 May, 7:30pm!
The Substation champions contemporary and experimental arts. Housed inside a former industrial building steeped in the rich history of Melbourne’s inner west, The Substation is an arts destination unlike any other in Australia.
New York based artist Lea Bertucci creates a profound and personal universe of sound in her live performance. Stemming from her interests in sonic mass, harmony and texture, Bertucci’s work juxtaposes her skills as a wind instrument performer against a mesh of tape noise, extended drone approaches and tidal waves of bass frequency.
Bertucci is joined at The Substation by Australian singer/composer/improviser Shoeb Ahmad, aka Sia Ahmad. Ahmad creates a deft sonic language shaped equally through intense improvisational strategies and her interest in song form. Her work is aesthetically divergent, but united under her unique sense of relational sonics.
We look forward to welcoming you to The Substation. Doors are open from 6.30pm to enjoy a drink at the bar or view our current exhibitions – Nuclear Waste Dump and Five Self-Vibrating Regions of Intensities – before heading to the main space for the performance.
