Parking inspectors threatened at gunpoint in terrifying roadside confrontation in Springvale South

Two Melbourne parking inspectors have been threatened at gunpoint in a terrifying roadside confrontation in the city’s southeast.

Police were called to the scene in Springvale South on Thursday afternoon after a man allegedly pulled a gun on the inspectors.

The inspectors were on Albion Cres in the process of issuing a penalty notice on an unregistered car when the owner stormed out of his home and began allegedly threatening them with a handgun.

The parking inspectors immediately called triple-0 but the alleged offender ran away.

Police told 7NEWS they searched the area and found the man on a nearby street, arresting him straight away.

Officers spent hours at the property searching cars and the home but say they have not been able to find a gun.

The accused remains in custody and was being questioned by police as of Thursday night.
